You can join us if you are between 12 (and in school year 8) and 17 years of age. Cadets are able to stay until they are 20 years of age, subject to certain restrictions like DBS/CRB checks upon reaching their 18th birthday.

If you would like to find out more, we have 2 pre-induction and intake evenings per year, in February and September. There are no joining fees and no charges for at least the first month of attendance (more detials below).

New cadets will not require any special equipment or uniform and will be given basic training in subjects like the RAF, ATC, First Aid, principles of flight as well as some practical subjects including Drill and Weapons handling.

Once this part of the basic training has been completed, cadets will be able to take part in a much wider range of activities, such as flying, gliding and also be eligible to attend summer camps and adventure training weekends.

We have at least 2 opportunities per year for potential cadets and their parents to join us and find out more on one of our pre-induction evenings. They are held on the last Thursday in February and the last Thursday in September from 1930 Hrs and last around an hour. You will be given a presentation, information and forms on the evening that will assist you with joining as a cadet. New cadets can start attending as members of the squadron from the Monday following the pre-induction evening. Cadets only need to pay subscriptons of seven Pounds per month from when they are issued with their uniform.
